SAML (Security Assertion Markup Language) is an open standard used for exchanging authentication and authorization data between parties. It enables Single Sign-On (SSO), allowing users to access multiple applications and services with a single set of credentials, eliminating the need to log in to each one separately.

Using SAML in VPN applications and other SaaS services ensures secure and convenient user authentication, simplifying identity and access management in organizations. SAML defines a protocol in which the Identity Provider (IdP) communicates authentication and user attribute information to the Service Provider (SP), granting users access to the necessary resources.
