At Secfense, we believe in building technology that empowers organisations while respecting privacy, security, and digital autonomy. That is why we decided to join the EU Tech Map: a dynamic initiative mapping the European technology ecosystem and highlighting alternatives to widely used non-European solutions.
What is the EU Tech Map?
The EU Tech Map is an interactive directory and exploration tool that showcases technology companies based in Europe. It lists hundreds of European tech providers across dozens of categories (from cloud computing and communications to cybersecurity and identity & access solutions) with a clear focus on organisations that are GDPR-compliant, hosted in the EU, and aligned with European values of data sovereignty and privacy.
Designed to help businesses, public institutions, and technology buyers easily find local alternatives to products and services traditionally dominated by non-European providers, the map plays an important role in the growing conversations about digital sovereignty and strategic autonomy in Europe. It visually illustrates the strength and diversity of the European tech ecosystem, highlighting that many solutions (previously assumed to be dominated by US companies) have capable European alternatives.
Why It Matters
Our technology choices have strategic implications. Where software and data services are hosted, who controls the underlying architecture, and where user data resides can all influence an organisation’s compliance posture, risk exposure, and resilience against digital threats.
The EU Tech Map supports a specific goal: to increase visibility of technologies made in Europe, foster local innovation, and offer businesses practical alternatives that align with EU regulatory frameworks and long-term strategic autonomy.
By making it easier to discover GDPR-respecting, EU-hosted solutions, the initiative contributes to reducing dependency on external providers and promotes a more resilient European digital infrastructure.
Why We Decided to Join
For Secfense, being part of the EU Tech Map is a meaningful step in reinforcing our commitment to European digital sovereignty. Our solutions are now showcased alongside other European tech innovators, making it easier for organisations across Europe to find, compare, and adopt technologies that align with their needs for compliance, security, and sovereignty.
We see this as part of a larger movement: organisations across sectors increasingly prioritising EU-focused solutions that meet stringent privacy standards and regulatory requirements while providing cutting-edge cybersecurity capabilities.
Initiatives like the EU Tech Map reopen the conversation about Europe’s digital future, one where software and services built in Europe are visible, trusted, and chosen for the value they bring.
