Kraków, April 16, 2025 – Secfense, a cybersecurity company that helps organizations adopt passwordless login methods, has been granted a U.S. patent for its core technology. The patent, issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), covers a method that allows companies to quickly implement secure login options such as fingerprint, face recognition, or phone confirmation without needing to change their existing systems.
The patented solution was developed by Secfense co-founders Marcin Szary and Tomasz Kowalski. It provides a way for businesses and institutions to roll out modern login methods across all users and applications, without rewriting application code or disrupting existing infrastructure.
“This patent confirms the originality and effectiveness of our approach to secure identity verification,” said Tomasz Kowalski, CEO of Secfense. “Our goal from day one has been to make it easy for any organization to switch from passwords to stronger login methods without needing a major technical overhaul.”
The patented technology makes it possible to implement multi-factor authentication (MFA), where a second step (like confirming your login on a phone) is required in addition to, or instead of, a password. More importantly, Secfense supports passwordless authentication, which removes passwords completely from the login process, significantly reducing the risk of phishing and account takeover attacks.
Secfense solutions are already in use in industries with strict security and compliance requirements, such as banking, insurance, healthcare, and government. The technology helps organizations meet cybersecurity regulations like DORA, NIS2, and GDPR, while eliminating the risks associated with password use.
The U.S. patent (No. 12273332), titled “Secondary Authentication Platform for Facilitating a Multi-Factor Authentication and Methods for Use Therewith”, will remain in force until June 2043.
