The ocean is not a limit.
Last week we went to Seattle, where, together with our client – Bank BNP Paribas Poland – we took part in Authenticate 2022, one of the most significant identity events in the world organized by the FIDO Alliance. The FIDO Alliance is an open industry association with a focused mission: authentication standards to help reduce the world’s over-reliance on passwords. Secfense is a proud member of the FIDO Alliance. Here’s a short summary of Authenticate 2022 put together by our CEO and co-founder, Tomasz Kowalski.
Passwordless and passkey
The Authenticate 2022 was definitely marked by two cybersecurity buzzwords – not-so-new buzzword – passwordless, and the most recent one – passkey.
Lots of technical presentations packed with information about new products and new ways in which MFA and FIDO2 can be introduced to organizations on a big scale. Microsoft explained how they dealt with the transition to passwordless with Windows Hello, an operating system that allows users to log in to their workstations without passwords.
Our solution – User Access Security Broker – was a good fit for the event. Together with Leszek Zalewski from BNP Paribas Bank Polska, we showed our case study explaining how passwordless authentication can be introduced in a large organization on all applications and without coding. Moreover, we were able to show how this process was carried out in a real and demanding environment, i.e., a global bank with a huge number of applications and users to protect.
Visible and innovative
The fact that we came with such a large customer like BNP Paribas definitely brought attention. Among the startups present at the conference, Secfense was one of the youngest ones. Most companies have been on the market for ten years or more. Having a big bank on the stage with us has definitely helped us get some additional recognition.
Secfense also came up as one of the innovative companies with an exciting approach to MFA and passwordless adoption. Despite the fact that there are already over a dozen passwordless companies on the market, none of them implements FIDO2 the same way as Secfense does – quickly and in a no-code way, so without touching the code of protected applications.
We’re definitely adding the next FIDO-hosted events to our events list, as this is THE place to be when it comes to identity and authentication space. We’re already talking to some companies that were present at Authenticate 2022 that liked our approach to passwordless MFA adoption, and hopefully, soon, we will be able to shed some light on these partnerships.
The next big event where you will be able to talk to us will be Oktane22, the Okta Identity Event in San Francisco.
Do you know some other identity and authentication events that we should participate in?
